ASTRO
Joes Astrophotography is one of his most popular genres for admirers of his work. His night-time images often capture natural beauty that we are unable to see with our naked eye. He achieves this effect with the use of 'long-exposure photography' techniques - allowing much more light into the camera than our eyes could ever possibly see. Ever since Joe saw a 'star trails' image he has been fascinated with capturing photographs of the night sky and the many wonders that come with it such as the Milky Way Galaxy and the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights). Joe has had lots of people admire and share his Astrophotography work and his shot of the Milky Way Galaxy above Ardvreck Castle is currently featuring in the 'True Highlands Charity Calendar 2016' which is raising money for the RNLI Highlands & Islands rescue service.

"Despite not knowing a great deal about the study of astronomy there's something about the beauty of the night sky that never fails to amaze me when I'm out there in the field, gazing up into the dark, twinkling abyss. And to think, if our eyes could see anywhere near as much detail as a camera sensor can pick up just how breathtakingly stunning that spectacle would be."
